Kindness, the true music of the World

posted on: August 10, 2019

Peter Marshall said, “Small deeds done are greater than great deeds planned.” Paul says in Galatians 5, “…By love, serve one another.” We should be known by our spirit and how we serve one another. How we serve our family, our extended loved ones, neighbors and strangers on the street and those in our country.

Frederick William Faber was a noted English hymn writer and theologian. His best-known work is Faith of Our Fathers.

He said, “Kind words are the music of the world. They have a power which seems to be beyond natural causes, as though they were some angel’s song which had lost its way and come down to earth.”
Kindness isn’t just an outward expression. It has to come from the heart. A heart filled with goodness, I believe. There is so much emphasis placed on our heart and what flows from it.

When Samuel went looking for the nation’s king to anoint, God told him in I Samuel 16 that he looked at the heart of man. David’s heart made him special. David told his son Solomon to serve God wholeheartedly because the Lord searches every heart and understands motives.

1 Chronicles 28:9 (KJV)
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

Jesus, in the New Testament, saw through the sickening Pharisees and he saw the real person. He always looked into the heart. A REAL spiritual revival must always begin in the heart. There seems to be an overwhelming emphasis on external forms of worship and hype but when our heartrate slows and the sanctuary lights dim and the Sunday crowd dissipates…Jesus is left standing there asking,
“Did you really feel me?
Did you really get to know me?
Did you talk to me?
Did you allow those ‘unchurched’ among you to be introduced to the Great I Am?”.

A kind heart that follows after God will flow with love and will get out of the way so the sick can be healed and the less fortunate can be touched instead of clamoring for more his attention…because we have him always. We can daily commune with him in our alone time. We have a daily walk with him alone, right?

Church time really isn’t about us….A heart out of tune, out of sync with God’s heart will produce a life of spiritual barrenness and missed opportunities…and can I dare say, it will cause strife and malice and will turn brother against brother and church sister against church sister so jealousies arise.

Jim Cymbala, Pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle wrote a book in 2001 called, ‘The Life God blesses’ which I am reading right now. I can’t get out of the first three pages. I have read them over and over and over. They have so convicted me. (buy the book!!)

If we ask the Lord to bring our hearts into harmony with submission to his, we will find the secret of his blessings that has remained throughout all generations.

Pushing Back the Darkness for the Princess Within

posted on: October 28, 2018

We recently came across an amazing lady who is going into American prisons with a Prison ministry/ ladies conference called Princess Within. Prisoners are princesses too. Most of the Bible is written while in prison. Prison ministry is a ministry after God’s own heart.

Interestingly enough, prisons and jails across the US have become lucrative recruiting grounds for pimps and sex buyers in America’s thriving domestic sex trafficking industry. This breaks my heart and should break yours as well.

I immediately wanted to help somehow. That’s when we decided to reach out to Sis. Karen Rhinehart. We spoke for hours on the phone and I am so excited to share how we are going to help.

We will begin pushing back the darkness for those princesses within. I plan to attend her conference in Mississippi in January 2019.

Please feel free to reach out to us and help in anyway you can. December is a great month to gather items like socks, lip balms, and other items to share with them in presents as well.

My email: is the quickest way to get a hold of me to help!

God bless you!

Sex Trafficking and the links to Porn in America

posted on: September 6, 2018

When I first began to study and write Pushing Back the Darkness novel I wanted to fight the injustice of modern day slavery and bring awareness to this issue. I soon found this was bigger than me. I continue to bring awareness and help wherever I can.

Washington, D.C., has more porn viewership per capita than any state in the nation, followed by Illinois, Georgia and Nevada.

Read more here:Kansas City Star article

Justice demands that every person in the United States recognize a certain truth: when you watch porn, you contribute to the very problem that needs to be solved. I read on a blog recently something I wanted to share here with you. Sex trafficking and pornography are two fruits of the same tree, both rooted in the exploitation of human beingsProtect Young Minds

  1. Porn consumption increases the demand for not only trafficked women and children but as well as young boys and men. Don’t think this just affects females. This is a nightmare that hurts males as well.
  2. Trafficking victims are used in the production of porn. You can research youtube videos of people who have testimonies of them coming out of the industry and saying it was their choice to be there and they could leave anytime, however, it almost every video you will see sadness in their eyes, anger in their voice and you will always hear excuses come out of their mouth about ‘why’ they did what they did. You will hear honest answers from them saying they were required to do more than they anticipated and ‘worked/used’ worse than they imagined. There is no respect in that industry. They were used and thrown away.

“It is everyone’s responsibility to do their part to reduce the demand for commercial sex.”

Education is the only way to change cultures and public policy in regards to human trafficking.  Other organizations to read about include a great group of men called :

Men against the Trafficking of Others

As always, a diverse group of Abolitionists I love is the :

SWLAAbolitionists Group

SWLA Abolitionists is made up of people in southwest Louisiana dedicated to fighting human trafficking through awareness, prevention, rescue and restoration. Our goal is to spread awareness on a local level through communities and relevant institutions. We aim to battle the notion that modern slavery only takes place in third world countries. We hope to give our local community a better understanding of the issue and how close it could be to them. Our passionate team also works to connect (and recruit) local abolitionists and serve as social advocates for victims and their families.

There are interviews from great authors and others fighting human trafficking across the globe in my blog that you can find as well.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out anytime! I am currently looking for funding to edit the sequel to Pushing Back the Darkness, and create a curriculum for emotional healing and restoration for survivors of sexual abuse. Please say a pray for me. Thanks!

Chris Botti and burnt pancakes -why all the smiles?

posted on: March 11, 2017

It’s a rainy Saturday morning here. My kids otherwise known as Tiny destroyers wanted pancakes for breakfast. And eggs. And sausage but I didn’t have any sausage.

I’m not known for my great cooking skills ..give me a book to write and you got it…hand me a spatula and I’m hopeless.

But as I sat trying to eat my burnt pancakes that were raw on the inside and my runny scrambled eggs I noticed the kids weren’t eating. They had turned on Chris Botti, my favorite trumpet player and were just smiling away this morning. They were mimicking him … pantomiming playing the trumpet.

It didn’t matter to them if their food wasn’t IHOP quality. We were all sitting together eating breakfast together for the 1st time in days …maybe weeks.

I was thankful for all their smiles. My tiny destroyers were happy …and if they got hungry then I couldn’t mess up PB&J for lunch… could I????

What are you scared of? Spoiler alert: You have nothing to fear

fam1There seems to have been a running theme throughout my day today and actually throughout the past week or so. I am literally breaths away from ordering the proof of my first book and my emotions have been running high. This has been a long time coming…and I can’t believe the time is actually here that I will have completed my first book. I have been so stressed, so worried about what will people think about the book? How will it go over? Will it sell? Will I be able to explain WHY I wrote it… many worries and fears…..

But today driving home a segment of radio conversation pierced through my worrisome daydreams and I heard the announcer say:

The things you are afraid of...are afraid of Him

Think about that for a moment.

What are you afraid of? Afraid of the spirit of depression? Afraid of spirits that want to attack your mind and your marriage? THEY, too are afraid. They are afraid of HIM…the one who is on your side. The one who holds you in the palm of his hand. AND you have nothing to be afraid of. Not the past, not the future, not the failures that drive you to your knees in shame. YOU have nothing to be afraid of when HE is on your side and fighting your battles for you!

I just love that!

Addison Russell, Chicago Cubs & my Neighbor’s rose

posted on: January 24, 2017

cub1.jpgaddison.jpgMY day was made today. Wow. First off I had a dozen roses that I was giving out to neighbors yesterday and by chance an older couple drove by my house on their golf cart so I stopped them and gave her a rose. That was the end of it…or so I thought.

Today, my husband and I were outside making spring plans. We have to re-mulch the front flower garden. My neighbor stopped by to talk to us today and asked about the ‘W’ we were flying when the cubs won the World series.

Long story short, his (great?) nephew is Addison Russell, Chicago Cubs’ shortstop.

My neighbor said he wanted to borrow the W so Addison could sign it for me next year when he comes back around to visit!

Soooooooo excited! giggling like a school girl!

It all comes down to this. I don’t think he would have been so apt to stop and talk to us if I had not been nice to his wife the day before and gave her a rose. I’ll never know…..

But I do like what ‘being nice’ brings… happiness that goes around comes around.

Who am I?
